Dear members of the SSTMP,
Dear guests,

On 7/8 September 2023, the annual scientific meeting and general assembly of the Swiss Society of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology - SSTMP – will take place at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) in Allschwil (Basel).

Our exciting programme is headlined by two outstanding keynote speakers:

Robin B. Gasser (University of Melbourne, Australia), presenting about "Understanding of parasites at the molecular level to discover new interventions" and
Amaya Bustinduy (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK), presenting about "100 years of neglect in paediatric and genital schistosomiasis".
The meeting will cover the following sessions, for which abstracts can be submitted:

Drug discovery and new therapeutics
Epidemiology and control of parasite infections
Diagnostics in humans and animals
Vector entomology
Paediatrics and Public Health
Molecular Parasitology
In addition, Swiss TPH will offer a guided tour in the new building, and there will be prices for the best students' contributions (poster and presentation).

We will have plenty of room for strengthening our networks with new and old friends and colleagues during lunch and coffee breaks as well as at the conference dinner on 7 September, 2023 in the restaurant “zum Schmaus”.

We look forward to a lively meeting in Allschwil with many of you participating – keeping the good SSTMP spirit going.

From the railway station Basel SBB
Take bus no. 48 in the direction of 'Basel, Bachgraben' and get off at stop 'Allschwil, Kreuzstrasse'.

From Basel Euro Airport
Take bus no. 50 in the direction of 'Basel SBB', change at 'Basel, Kannenfeldplatz' and take bus no. 38 in the direction of 'Basel, Bachgraben' to stop 'Allschwil, Kreuzsstrasse'.

By bicycle
There are multiple parking stations around the Swiss TPH building.

By car
There are public parking spaces in Hegenheimermattweg within walking distance of Swiss TPH.

Discounted accommodation for attendees
The SSTMP has a contingent for 30 rooms at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Basel-Allschwil (5 minutes to Swiss TPH by walk). Meeting attendees can book rooms at a discount (CHF 169 per night on Thursday) as long as the contingent is available. Please contact the hotel and mention that you stay for the SSTMP meeting at Swiss TPH.
